My Experience with John's Guns

Ruger MKII Integral Model P22

Bad
Expensive for what it is, and compared to others
Looks bad for what was agreed to and paid for
Poor service after the money was paid
Not accurate out of the box
Barrel not centered in tube?

Good
It is quiet and does sound good when fired
It does come apart to be cleaned
It is made using SS baffles
It does run without problems with CCI

I know I am picky with it, but I thought I paid to be picky, and I thought it was clear with the requests I had that I would be picky. I provided detailed round counts, pictures, videos, and so on covering what I had sold and wanted to replace, and what changes I wanted made with the new gun.

It is almost OK... which is what sucks the most - a little more effort and it would have been perfect, but it didn't happen, and he wasn't interested in making it happen, or making it right in the end - but it isn't what he said it would be (like new) and looking like my old one. It shoots low and to the left, more than the rear sight will adjust, it needs shifted in the slot. A lot of little things added up, and the kicker was his complete lack of caring about my concerns, so here is a web page to allow others to make a decision based on more info.

If you don't mind getting a knock-around gun at safe queen prices, you might be OK. If you want perfection, it isn't here. I don't know where perfection is. It isn't in muzzle cans, it isn't in the Serbu Siris (nice, but a touch louder than what I wanted), it isn't in the AAC Phoenix (sealed unit but otherwise very nice), and it isn't in this gun (it COULD have been, had he built it like he said on a nicer gun and if it shot right). Perfection is somewhere else. It must cost more than $1500. I wouldn't have thought so, but I spent the money and tried. My next try will be Norrell, or one of the other smaller builders, but I doubt I'll ever find a NIB MKII Ruger now. *edit* - I've since bought another MKII SS Target... it is not NIB, but it is in pretty darn nice shape, expect the barrel which gets turned down anyway. The frame is in like new shape... enough I'm happy with it, and I'm obviously a picky whiny bitching cunt. So you know it looks OK:)

Pics trying to show the barrel port holes, I don't think they are chamfered on the inside, but I'm not sure.
